Gasoline Car Restricted Zones Coming To Germany?

SPIEGEL reports on plans for new executive legislation that would allow cities to declare gasoline car restricted zones.
There are several models discussed. One would be to restrict these zones for dirty old cars that don’t observe the newest emission standards. Another one would be to restrict these zones based on the last digit of the number plate every other day. That latter restriction would affect all gasoline cars.
The aim of these measures is to do something about NO2 pollution. But that would be one reason more to stop buying gasoline cars and buy an electric vehicle instead.
