New SONNEN VP Of US Sales Is Former Tesla Powerwall Sales Manager
The German residential smart energy storage solutions firm SONNEN has named as its new Vice President of Sales in the US — Blake Richetta, the former North American Sales Manager for Tesla Energy.
Previous to his time at Tesla, Richetta reportedly spent 15 years working at Lutron Electronics — primarily working on the firm’s “smart home” lighting and shading solutions.
The hire follows fairly closely on news that the global SONNEN Group has secured $85 million in (minority) equity financing through various investors, including Envision Energy.
Interestingly, the hire also means that Richetta is now actually the 7th former Tesla manager to now be working at SONNEN.
The Managing Director and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of SONNEN, Philipp Schroeder, commented on the hire: “We are extremely happy to see top European and US talent join SONNEN’s ranks to support our vision of clean and affordable energy for all.”
As did Richetta himself: “SONNEN is the global leader in smart energy storage innovations. SONNEN recognizes the vital role that regional distribution partners play in the US. Also SONNEN understands like no other company in this sector, that winning at energy storage requires the smartest not the cheapest battery box. By installing a proven, intelligent network of batteries, SONNEN is creating an additional value for all by aggregating many systems to create a true virtual power plant that increases the resiliency of the utility grid and provides an alternative to conventional power plants. SONNEN is building the future of energy.”
As it stands, SONNEN currently offers a variety of energy storage and management systems in various European markets. It’ll be interesting to see if SONNEN can crack the US market in a real way.
