National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) is partnering with Hewlett Packard Enterprise to gain help for the acceleration of the company’s global electric vehicle production setup, according to a new press release from the companies.

NEVS

Under the partnership, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s “Enterprise Services” will design and create a global manufacturing IT platform for NEVS, amongst other things. This IT platform will be used in various facilities in Sweden and China — including the firm’s existing manufacturing plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and a new facility in Tianjin, China.

As a reminder, for those unfamiliar with or forgetting details about the firm, NEVS is a Swedish holding company that was founded in 2012 and subsequently purchased the primary assets of what had been Saab Automobile. NEVS is now working on the implementation of a plan involving all-electric vehicles, amongst other things.

The press release provides further information: “The solution spans from IT infrastructure to business processes and is based on SAP HANA in-memory computing and proven SAP automotive solutions, running on HPE technology…HPE’s solution will replace the majority of NEVS’ existing manufacturing application landscape, creating a globally standardized and integrated manufacturing IT platform. This new environment will support a high-volume and highly flexible production capability, which will provide NEVS with the flexibility to adapt their operation to changing market conditions. Prepared for Industrial Internet concepts, the new platform will also give NEVS full control and planning ability of the entire value chain from incoming order to final delivery of a vehicle.”

NEVS is currently expecting to begin production of its first electric vehicle sometime in 2017, reportedly.
