Faraday Future To Unveil Production Model At CES In January
Faraday Future will be unveiling an all-electric production vehicle at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in early January, the company has announced.
While not much is actually known about the model yet, it is more or less clear that it won’t be a cheap one. The company has already noted that the production all-electric vehicle will be in the “premium” segment. Other comments note that it will feature a “holistic design” and an “industry leading” electric range.
As we reported a few weeks ago, the first Faraday Future model (and presumably others as well) will utilize LG Chem battery cells in its battery pack.
After the company’s rather disappointing showing at last year’s CES, and the subsequent media response to it, I’m guessing that FF will be pulling out all the stops this time in order to try and generate some real buzz. If the product revealed is expensive, though, then I’m wondering how much buzz can actually be generated. The real appeal of the Tesla Model 3, and to a lesser degree the Chevy Bolt, is the relatively affordable price for what’s being offered.
With regard to the Tesla Model 3, much of the buzz relates to the company’s (seeming) lead in the area of autonomous driving technologies. As just revealed this week, all Model 3s will actually come standard with the company’s new, extensive Autopilot hardware suite — there will be a price to activate the “convenience features,” but the hardware itself will come standard. Every single Model 3 out there will be capable of fully autonomous travel. There’s not another company out there in the whole of the auto industry that’s doing anything like that. But this is definitely an area where Faraday Future also wants to be a leader:
