BYD Exec Chosen For National Transit Research Analysis Committee (Advising FTA)

The BYD Heavy Industries Senior Vice President, Macy Neshati, has been appointed to serve on the Transit Research Analysis Committee (TRAC) — one of the National Research Council’s Transportation Research Board committees — according to an email sent to CleanTechnica and EV Obsession.
What that means is that Neshati will be helping to advise the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on future public transportation needs, research needs, etc.
The email notes that, “as a member of TRAC, Neshati will contribute to the assessment of future public transportation needs that could benefit from federal investment through a national research and technology program. TRAC will also advise the Federal Transit Administration with recommendations on research needs and stakeholder engagement for federal research programs to guide future transit investments.”
Neshati commented: “I’ve been in the transportation industry a long time, and it’s clear that we are at a crossroads today regarding clean, zero-emission vehicles, and how best to invest in our growing cities. I’m proud to have been asked to join my colleagues on this committee, and look forward to coming up with real solutions that benefit our communities, our economy, and our planet.”
The President of BYD America, Stella Li, said: “I’ve been honored to work with Macy over the last several years, and I know just how much knowledge and vision he brings to any conversation. Macy’s experience in transportation will provide this committee with significant insight into the US’s needs in order to continue to build a reliable and advanced transportation system that keeps our communities moving and thriving.”
The service term on the committee will be from August 1, 2016 until July 31, 2018.
One would assume and hope that all of this means a bright near-term future for electric buses.
