Nissan is promoting National Drive Electric Week as widespread educational events with ride-and-drives are nearing (September 10 this year marks the start).

For some of us, every day is already “drive electric day,” and every week is “driving electric week.” As one of those people, Nissan actually reached out to push me to participate, thus helping more people to enjoy the pleasures of electric driving

Nissan is strongly promoting National Drive Electric Week, and the company should be at the forefront of such promotion. The Nissan LEAF is the top-selling electric car in history. Nissan is one of the only companies to offer its cars in states all across the USA, and much of the world. It was Nissan EVs that transported concerned global participants back and forth to COP21. Want some numbers on that? In that short week, in that small part of the planet, the city stopped or saved 18 tons of CO2 emissions with Renault & Nissan ZEVs – driving 108,000 miles without petroleum.

Here’s part of Nissan’s website pitch about the record-setting LEAF:

ZERO. NOTHING. NOT A PUFF. Zero emissions. Most cars—even hybrids—release tons of CO2 tailpipe emissions every year. The Nissan LEAF® doesn’t use a single drop of gas. And no gas means no tailpipe, no fumes, and zero emissions.”

“Nissan is a driving force in the plug-in vehicle industry, with the top-selling electric vehicle, Nissan LEAF, and with investments in charging infrastructure and consumer education,” said Tom Saxton, Plug In America’s Program Manager for National Drive Electric Week. “Nissan’s support of National Drive Electric Week helps Plug In America with our efforts to rapidly increase adoption of EVs of all kinds in cities across the U.S.”

Plug In America explains that, “National Drive Electric Week is based on the idea that nothing beats ride-and-drives in clean, quiet and powerful plug-in vehicles for converting gasoline-car drivers to EV owners.”

We agree. Hence our Cleantech Revolution Tour.

Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association are the organizations teaming up with local EV enthusiast groups to organize events, “which typically feature all-electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars from every automaker on the market.”

“Each event is led by local plug-in drivers and advocates and typically includes some combination of EV parades, ride-and-drives, electric tailgate parties, press conferences, award ceremonies, informational booths, and more.” I will be helping with the Sarasota, Florida, event. So will Tesla owners and CleanTechnica friends Chris Sharek and Larry Chanin, and several others. Hopefully many of you can help with yours as well!
