Nissan’s “No Charge to Charge” program just keeps growing, and it is nice to find some Florida cities in the group of 10 new markets added to the program — environmental incentives are all too scarce in the Sunshine State.

“Participating Nissan LEAFs have spent a combined 19.4 years at public fast-charge stations while saving more than $4.2 million in charging fees,” Nissan writes.

If you are considering a LEAF, the time is now to jump in. The “No Charge to Charge” program can save new LEAF owners “as much as $1,000 over two years and up to $10 per charge.” Nissan’s incentive, with all the others niceties of the LEAF, is strong call to join the EV movement.

Things are pretty good in Sarasota and St. Petersburg — two of the new locations, which is where I mostly drive — as far as inexpensive charging goes. However, free fast charging is a nice bonus. The basic details are: “The program offers new LEAF buyers free public charging for the first two years of ownership, drastically reducing or completely eliminating the costs of operating their vehicle.”

For more backstory on Nissan’s deal and how it compares with the options for the upcoming Tesla Model 3, check out our last post on the “No Charge to Charge” promotion. “We know that public charging is a key element in providing additional range confidence for electric vehicle drivers, and free public charging is a great way to make Nissan LEAF an unrivaled value for the average American driver.”

I love Tesla Motors, but Nissan has some attractive qualities economically, aesthetically, and with smooth drive quality of its own.
