The initial Cleantech Revolution Tour conference that we held in Berlin was a lot of fun, and the presentations were packed with interesting facts, figures, charts, and jokes. We had a blast, and there’s no way to share all of the conversations, connections, and laughs (which is why I encourage you to come to our Leipzig conference or another future event). But I did spend essentially the whole day going through some of the electric vehicle presentations in order to pull out some condensed highlights for you to enjoy and share.

There are 3 videos below that include highlights from 5 of the weekend’s presentations. More videos should be coming tomorrow.

Advancing Electric Cars Around The World

The first video includes important comments and pictures on why clean, zero-emissions cars are so important. Roland Irle, who had the good sense to kick things off with this, also highlighted the threat of global warming and some scary climate science as well as many interesting and important points regarding making a place (country, region, city) EV friendly — but the highlights in the video below concern China, city life + EV charging, the EV charging ecosystem we need, Tesla Supercharging, and India’s aim go fully electric before any other country. In the middle, I included some of the pointed comments from Blitzzcar’s Helge Hinrichs on the German auto industry, the future of transportation/mobility (and the disruption that is expected), and the critical software leadership that is coming out of Silicon Valley. Additionally, Hannah Yanchuk of Electric Vehicle Association of Ukraine (Facebook page here) highlighted a unique benefit of EVs and made an important call to action that we all spread the news about EVs and work to keep our world green. Naturally, with ~1.5 hours of presentations cut down to ~6 minutes, this is just a few of the highlights from these great presentations, but I hope you appreciate these hot points.

State of the EV Industry

If you’ve watched my presentations from IndiaFlorida, and Vancouver, you’ve seen several of the points I make in this 2nd highlights video, but there are also several that I hadn’t made elsewhere, especially since this presentation came right after the unveiling of the Tesla Model 3, and event I attended and was still jet-lagged from. 😛 In the video highlights, I talk about the electric cars currently on the market, coming long-range electric cars, charging/Supercharging, battery prices and cost-competitiveness of electric cars (versus smelly gasmobiles and diesel polluters), battery upgrades, the Chevy Bolt, the Tesla Model 3, potential market variation, and market disruption and how technology transitions occur. Again, this is just a portion of the overall presentation, but I think the stuff I left out has been quite extensively written about here on CleanTechnica. 😀

Electric Car Sales & History Highlights

Viktor Irle and Jose Pontes will be publishing articles on CleanTechnica about their combined presentation, but I prematurely went through it to highlight some of my favorite points. These include automotive records/history that go back 100+ years, some recent sales fun, Norway’s electric car leadership and pioneering sales records, China’s rapid electric car sales growth, how electric car sales break out globally by regional/country brand, Tesla’s sales leadership, and some comments about electric buses.

Here’s the BYD video I mentioned at the end there:

Again, Cleantech Revolution Tour conference #2 will be in Leipzig, Germany, and is now set for June 21, 9:30am to 6:00pm. The location is Wünschmann Haus, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 10-12, 04107 Leipzig.
