Vestas has won a 600 MW service contract for all 12 wind power plants owned by the Hanas Group in Yanchi County, China.

Vestas announced the news this week, revealing that it had been awarded a firm and unconditional service contract. The contract is comprised of a one-year Active Output Management 4000 service agreement, followed by a four-year Portfolio Support agreement for all 12 wind power plants owned by Hanas Group, all of which are built with Vestas wind turbines. This follows in line with the fact that, since Hanas Group entered the wind power market back in 2011, Vestas has been its exclusive wind turbine supplier, supplying all the turbines for the company’s 600 MW fleet of wind projects.

“We look forward to continuing the long-term partnership with Hanas Group and to helping them lower the cost of energy through these tailor-made service solutions,” said Chris Beaufait, President of Vestas Asia Pacific and China. “Working with Hanas Group on a customized order of this volume confirms our service strategy in China is well-designed to meet evolving customer needs.”

“The cooperation and mutual trust between Hanas and Vestas is entering into a new stage with the signing of this customized service contract,” added President of Hanas Group Ma Fuqiang. “It is essential for us to work with companies like Vestas, which is known for its innovative and ground-breaking solutions as well as its proven know-how and solid experience. The service agreement will enable us to improve energy production, enhance service quality, and grow our own service capabilities to a world class quality, hence, reduce the overall cost of energy, extend turbine lifetime and ensure our return of investment.”

This latest agreement helps assure Vestas of its place as the world’s largest wind energy service provider, with more than 15% of the worldwide wind turbine fleet.

  • Interesting. Western turbine makers have kept a technical lead over their Chinese competitors, who gave rarely been able to break out of their giant domestic market. Perhaps some of this is down to superior maintenance systems, drawing on sensor-rich designs.
