Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it!! So, we've decided to completely nix paywalls here at CleanTechnica. But...

  • Great video. For a company that spends $0 on advertising, Tesla has some of the best fan-made videos I think I’ve ever seen.
Side note, this has got to be the shortest article on cleantechnica. Thankfully, not many articles are constructed like this one: ‘Like solar? Of course you do. Here’s a chart to look at’. ‘Like wind power? Of course you do. Look at this picture.’

    • Like comments? Of course you do. You just read one.

  • 27 dollars a day savings * 200 work days = $5,400 in gas savings a year, not to mention the pollution savings.

    Then there’s the reliability.

    • Add in the avoided oil changes.

Autopilot would let mail delivers sit in the right seat. Right?

      • Autopilot wouldn’t work well on the gravel roads this postal worker is driving on. The postal worker got a right-hand-drive car though.

        • It actually a left hand drive, I know the video makes it look like it’s RHD but unfortunately it’s not.

      • Wow. Autopilot in the country. This guy could read books, take a college course, watch stored shows on an iPad, while working.

  • So, 10 year savings will be $54,000.
Note, he didn’t buy the “85P”, he just bought the “85”. He selected range over performance, smart.

    • It’s guys like these who are the True Americans.
      -No money to foreign terrorists.
-No money for the Canadian Tar Sands Polluters.
      -Real Energy Independence for America.
-American Electricity is used, creating American JOBS.

      God Bless You.

      • Don’t forget built in America

        • From mostly American parts. Aside from the battery, which will be US-made soon.

  • Spoiler alert!

He delivers mail with a Tesla. Awesome. He should slap a USPS decal on the door.

He says 80 of the 124 miles he travels per day are on gravel roads. Model S has under 6 inches clearance (6.4 max if he has adjustable suspension) so I’m very surprised he doesn’t encounter impassable roads at some point. Of course as long as there aren’t big rocks in the road you can probably slide the smooth underbelly along gravel with 4WD…

    • He’s probably a private contractor, not a USPS employee. That’s how our mail gets delivered. By private individuals using their own vehicle.

Looks like his gravel roads are pretty tame. Not like ours where large falling rocks are a frequent event.

  • Man, that’s effective advertising. We’ve seen CG fireflies, space effects, voiceovers from Carl Sagan and words from Nikola Tesla – but this ordinary yet remarkable working bloke, saving a buck while getting the job done, beats them all. When Tesla do get around to paying for TV spots, they’d do well to start with this.

  • This may be an example but the plural reference points to missing material.

  • The only other thing you could add is that the BMW i3, to be released in July, could do this on electric too. And that would pay for the Total Cost of the Car over 10 years.

    • And then there’s the Chevy BOLT.
And after the 2018 Nissan Leaf.

  • Awww…

  • cool video….
