VW UK Chooses POD Point As Recommended Supplier For Home EV Charging Stations

The UK-based electric vehicle charging station company POD Point will now be the recommended supplier of Volkswagen UK, following on the announcement of a new partnership, according to an email sent to EV Obsession and CleanTechnica.
As part of the new partnership, Volkswagen buyers in the UK will be provided access to a wide range of home electric vehicle (EV) charging systems and installation services. The companies will also work together to develop charging stations “at the customer’s place of work and highlight the benefits that electric vehicles can bring to their organization.”
The Founder and CEO of POD Point, Erik Fairbairn, commented: “At POD Point, our mission has always been to prove that travel doesn’t have to damage the earth. We are excited about working with Volkswagen on their drive towards electric motoring and look forward to providing Volkswagen drivers with our usual outstanding service and customer support.”
The recent email provided some background on the current state of the EV market in the UK:
Just this week, a landmark study by the Royal College of Physicians estimates the huge cost of air pollution on public health, and business at over £20 billion a year. Around half the vehicles on the road in the UK now run on diesel, but manufacturers like Volkswagen are now offering a range of electric and hybrid alternatives.
POD Point is also in partnership with Carbon Footprint to offset the first 5,000 miles of electricity for each homecharge POD Point installed, giving drivers time to think about switching to a greener energy tariff.
POD Point has grown from £4.5 to £6.5 million turnover in the last 2 years. It has shipped over 20,000 charge points and supplied over 12 million miles of electric motoring. This rapid growth has earned the company a spot in the 2015 Sunday Times Tech Track 100 list of the UK’s fastest growing tech companies.
