Along with a chat or two with Akon, I also got to spend some time during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week interviewing Akon Lighting Africa Co-Founder & President Thione Niang.

Naturally, we talked about Akon Lighting Africa — for example, its aims, its roots, and how involved Akon is in it all. We also highlighted the possibility and logic of solar power leapfrogging large electric power plants in Africa and other parts of the developing world. Have a watch:
