The Swiss company ABB has been granted core membership in the German electric vehicle charging infrastructure association CharIN e.V.
The inclusion of ABB — which officially occurred on November 12, 2015 — marks the first time that a non-German company has been allowed to join the association.
For some further background here, ABB is involved in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector via the offering of various internet-based charging infrastructure solutions. The company offers a number of different EV charging solutions best suited to various location types and connected services. The company’s chargers are compatible with most service or payment applications.
Here are more details via a recent press release:
“ABB’s Internet connected chargers enable fast global service and pro-active maintenance. ABB has years of experience in creating, installing and maintaining charging infrastructure, including several nationwide charger networks. ABB markets several charging stations which support the CCS standards. We offer a warm welcome to our Dutch colleagues and look forward to shape the future of CCS together.”
Good news for those in the region. Anything that gets the EV charging infrastructure buildout in Europe to accelerate is a good thing at this point — the lack of charging infrastructure being a primary stumbling block to greater EV adoption.
ABB was a 2014 Zayed Future Energy Prize award winner.
