The smart home service OhmConnect has launched an online retail store offering cash back rebates on smart thermostats, smart plugs, home automation, and electric vehicle charging brands and products. Ecobee, Honeywell, Nest, and ChargePoint electric vehicle chargers are some of the products in the store.

OhmConnect can sync with all these products, and it sends users cash back rebates for automatically using less energy from the most pollution-intensive power plants.

“Just in time for the holidays, the OhmConnect online store allows you to give the gift that keeps on giving, both to the environment and your wallet. Our store features the best-in-class smart devices that automatically reduce your home’s environmental impact and send you monthly payments,” explained Curtis Tongue, Co-Founder and CMO of OhmConnect.

Some of the products in the OhmConnect store are:

ChargePoint Home
ChargePoint has finally brought its reliable and intuitive charger to the home.

EMW JuiceBox
The original wifi-controllable Level 2 EV charger, the JuiceBox is 15 kW and open source.

Ecobee
A wi-fi smart thermostat with an appealing design.

Nest
Another popular smart thermostat option.

OhmConnect sends its users messages via text, email or push notifications to alert them when to reduce their electricity consumption. When users reduce their electricity consumption during times when more electricity is being used than was expected, they help reduce the utilities’ costs. Utilities often use “peaker” plants to meet unexpected demand in a grid but they are expensive to operate and are not exactly environmentally friendly. Curtis Tongue, one of OhmConnect’s co-founders, said electricity produced by peaker plants to meet spikes in demand can cost $2,000 per MWh, which is many times more than what it normally is.

That OhmConnect works with the smart energy devices sold in their stores is helpful, because sometimes out-of-the-box solutions don’t work with each other, and yet that is one of the chief desires of a number of consumers.
