DriveNow and London City Airport have partnered to make the popular car sharing program available to travelers using the popular English airport, according to a recent email sent to EV Obsession.
The partnership marks the first occasion of a UK airport playing host to a carsharing program — a bit strange really, considering what a natural fit the two business types are; I’m sure that many travelers will appreciate having such a fast and easy means of getting transportation out of the airport.
For some background here, DriveNow possesses the largest electric car fleet in London, one that currently includes 50 BMW i3s, amongst other models. The service is a so-called “free floating” one, meaning that cars can be dropped off at locations other than those where they are picked up.
Joseph Seal-Driver, Managing Director of DriveNow UK, stated: “We are committed to giving Londoners a fully flexible solution to traditional transport methods — our partnership with London City Airport gives our customers a flexible way to travel in and out of the capital. London City is the first airport to adopt DriveNow’s car-sharing service and we’re excited to be further connecting London with our other European cities.”
And, Tom Murphy, Commercial Manager at London City Airport, commented: “We pride ourselves on offering the best possible experience for customers. This new partnership with DriveNow offers more choice for passengers to make their journey as convenient as possible.”
Those interested in finding out more about the carsharing service in general can do so on the DriveNow website.
