Solar Superheroes: Installation On Children’s Museum Will Be Done In Capes & Spandex
On September 1, 2015, superheroes in capes and spandex will be installing a new solar energy system on the Bellevue, Washington, KidsQuest Children’s Museum.
The size of the rooftop solar system isn’t that newsworthy, as it’s a 4.5 kW array with 16 panels total, but the fact that the installation crew from A&R Solar will be dressed in yellow bodysuits and capes during the install of the system on the roof of the museum might be a first for solar energy.
The system is a donation from A&R Solar to KidsQuest, as a way of saying thanks to the community for choosing the company to be the solar contractor for the Solarize Bellevue campaign.
“Our installers will don superhero costumes to install a 16-panel solar energy system on the future home of the KidsQuest Children’s Museum in downtown Bellevue. With a steep metal roof and our guys in bright yellow body suits, the installation should be quite the sight to behold.” – A&R Solar
The 4.5 kW solar array will help to offset the electrical costs of the museum, as well as “serve as a powerful environmental teaching tool” for visitors. On September 1st, the public is welcome to come by and watch the installation (beginning at 11am), take photos of superhero solar installers, and learn more about the museum and how the City of Bellevue is taking action on clean energy.
