Asia Pacific Resilience Innovation Summit Looks to Address Clean Tech, Military, and Island Community Sustainability
Key speakers will include Dawn Lippert (Director of Hawaii-based clean tech incubator the Energy Excelerator), US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, Eric Gleason (President of NextEra Energy Hawaii, which is set to become Hawaii’s largest utility after its takeover of Hawaiian Electric Company), Hawaii Governor David Ige and US Senator Brian Schatz (a true American hero of climate change legislation), and Henk Rodgers, Chairman and Founder of the Blue Planet Foundation, which recently led the charge that successfully culminated in Hawaii’s passage of a 100% renewable energy goal.
Topics for Monday include talks on clean transportation solutions for Hawaii, diverse technologies in renewable energy, biofuels, community solar, distributed energy resources, energy efficiency, and Department of Defense (DoD) Operational Energy Initiatives. Day 2 (Tuesday kicks off with a keynote by Senator Schatz, and goes into renewables funding, island grids, and the DoD energy technology challenge. Wednesday, day 3, covers more funding of renewables, corporate energy solutions, grid integration technologies, and an update on Executive Order 13693, the Federal Sustainability Goals, update and implementation guidance.
