Nest Labs has revamped its entire product line to coincide with the release of Nest Cam, the second generation Nest Protect, and new features on its core product, the Nest Learning Thermostat.
The company which caught everyone by storm with the release of its Nest Learning Thermostat in early 2012 has expanded its line steadily over the years, increasing the functionality and ease of use of the Thermostat and developing new products, such as Nest Protect, the company’s smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
This week, however, Nest has launched Nest Cam, “designed to watch out for your home and family — even when you can’t.”
“With secure 1080p HD video streaming, advanced Night Vision, better activity alerts powered by Nest Aware, one app for all your Nest products, and an all-new magnetic stand, Nest Cam helps you keep an eye on what matters.”
With 1080p full high-definition video quality, the Nest Cam works with motion alerts and night vision, and using the same app you’d use for all your other Nest products and tools, you can keep an eye on your home or stay in touch with your family from wherever you are.
Nest also updated its Protect and Thermostat line, as well as updating its app to incorporate all three products together.
“At Nest, we always wanted to build more than a thermostat,” said Tony Fadell, Nest chief executive officer. “Our vision was to create a thoughtful home – a home that takes care of itself and the people in it. Five years later, all the pieces are in place.”

Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
