The first thing that you think of when you hear “the Koch brothers” is a Tesla Model S, isn’t it? No? Me neither. But apparently Tesla Motors and the Koch brothers aren’t separated from each other by a solid brick-wall, as you might at first guess — a recent corporate overview video from the notorious fossil fuel (and climate change denier–funding) barons actually features a Model S.

Who would have guessed, right? Either way, it is there — right in the video, even if the logo isn’t highlighted. (In fact, you have to recognize the steering wheel or interior to catch it.)

I’m going to have to give a big tip of the hat here to “vgrinshpun” over on the Tesla Motors Club forum for finding this (and posting about it) — I don’t think that I (or many others) would have found out about it otherwise.

It’s certainly interesting (and arguably humorous, I guess), so worth a watch. For those doing so, the Tesla Model S makes its appearance at right around the 1:10 mark of the video. Enjoy.

The connection, apparently, is that “Koch Industries makes fiber for airbag material,” TMC forum member NigelM notes.

For a bit of background here on the generally maligned fossil fuel industry oligarchs, here are some links for your reading pleasure (going over their support of the Keystone XL Pipeline, their various fights against pollution/clean air standards, their backing of Tesla’s direct sales mode, their fight against the wind energy industry, and their origins):
