OutBack Power Technologies Unveils New Energy Storage Incentive Program For Solar Installers
The noted off-grid power solutions manufacturer OutBack Power Technologies just unveiled a new energy storage incentives program — dubbed SystemEdge — aimed at spurring solar installers to integrate energy storage systems into their offerings.
The new incentives program — which the company reportedly thinks will help advance the market — is currently set to run until late in the year. Through October 31, 2015 — to be exact.
The new incentives program will apply to all of OutBack Power’s storage-backed renewable energy systems as large as or larger than 4 kilowatt-hours (kWh) in size. The specific size of the incentive will be based on the storage and system capacity in question. Overall, though, total incentives will range between $200 and $800 per project. While the program is set to expire on October 31, 2015, a grace period for the submission of claims will run until December 15, 2015.
“OutBack Power has a track record of supporting successful renewable energy projects in the US. Rather than waiting for utilities to make a decision regarding energy storage, OutBack Power is taking a proactive stance. We’ve listened to our installers and know that energy storage will be a big driver in the market,” stated Glenn Baker, vice president of sales and support for OutBack Power. “Our SystemEdge incentive program will help installers stay one step ahead, while supporting market adoption of energy storage one installation at a time.”
That’s certainly the way to go about things, isn’t it — if you want something to happen, you better get on it yourself. Right now.
I can’t fault the company’s approach. Hopefully other companies will take a cue here and pursue similar approaches as well.
