Green jobs are growing because solar power, wind power, energy storage, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and other green industries are all expanding quickly. Wouldn’t it be great to have new, fresh green job postings in one huge website where anyone could search for a new job that they liked, or even loved?

Folks here at Important Media currently have an IndieGoGo campaign running to help raise a fairly modest amount of money to create such a site. Campaign contributors can get free job ads on the site, or other goodies. So, if you want to recruit prospective employees and support the a new green jobs portal, you can do both at the same time.

If you haven’t been following the solar industry too closely, you might be aware that there are at least 174,000 solar workers in America. There are also about 70,000 wind power jobs. So, that’s about 240,000 jobs, but within the energy efficiency sector, there are at least 800,000!

Green jobs are often for skilled workers, so recruiting them can be different from jobs for unskilled ones, and more difficult. For solar PV installers, the average annual salary is over $40,000 in California and about $50,000 in Massachusetts.

You might be skeptical that a new green jobs site would be able to draw a large audience. However, the new site would be part of the Important Media network (which CleanTechnica is a part of), and job postings will be promoted on relevant network sites. Important Media has many successful sites within the “Green” and “Healthy” media sectors. “People want green jobs. That is crystal clear. We’ve been working in sustainable media for 12 years, and believe we are the people to create and SUSTAIN the world’s best green jobs website. This site will be part of Important Media, one of the world’s biggest sustainability media companies, with over 3 million monthly readers,” the campaign team writes.

Green job listings will be shared on the whole Important Media network. Of course, presenting information about green jobs on all these sites makes perfect sense because the readers are interested in exactly that kind of content.
