New Partnership Enables Users To Give Carbon Offsets As A Gift

Rather than giving gifts of stuff this holiday season, why not give the gift of a cleaner climate? Oroeco is a California-based startup that allows users to track and share their carbon footprint, and they have partnered with Impact Carbon to help you give meaningful gifts for the holiday, relieve climate pressure AND help those in need.

In communities throughout rural East Africa, the traditional cooking method is an inefficient wood burning stove. Not only does the stove create smoke and ash in the homes of users, which leads to health problems, it also requires a lot of wood for daily cooking needs. The forests and trees have become depleted, and women and children must venture further afield to search for wood. This is difficult work that is potentially quite dangerous, too.

Impact Carbon works with partner organizations to build more fuel-efficient stoves, and Oroeco is supporting them in this cause by offering a matching one month gift of carbon credits from Impact Carbon for each Oroeco user for the holiday season, which helps support the cookstove program. As Oroeco users track their carbon usage data, they can make changes to reduce their carbon footprint, and they can purchase carbon offsets to help reduce their impact on the planet too. Oroeco will give your friends and family one month of FREE offsets, equal to whatever quantity of offsets are purchased for their first month, which is a great deal for everyone, especially the planet. Carbon offsets are really the only way to fully eliminate your climate impacts.

To learn more about how to give the gift of carbon offsets check out the Gifts page at Oroeco. Here’s how to give:

  1. Send an email to gifts@oroeco.com with the NAME and EMAIL address for each person you’d like give the gift of one month of FREE carbon offsets that support clean cookstoves in East Africa. Make sure to also mention who the gift is coming from, along with any special instructions about when you’d like the gift to be delivered (like if you want it to arrive on a holiday or their birthday, but please allow at least 24 hours). You can even give this gift to yourself as a thank you from Oroeco!
  2. Oroeco will send all your gift recipients a personalized email with information and instructions about how to redeem the gift. They’ll need to create a FREE Oroeco account (if they don’t have one already), then go to oroeco.com/offset to subscribe to the offsets.
  3. If you’d like to further personalize your gifts, and increase the chances that all your gifts are received and used, you can download this gift certificate to print and/or email to your loved ones at your leisure.

That’s it! Your gift is just an email away, you don’t need to pay anything, and you’re helping fund amazing work that’s making a real difference.
