EP Tender Update (Videos)

You may remember an article I wrote about French startup EP Tender back in December 2013 following an interview I did with the founder and CEO Jean-Baptiste Segard. A few months ago, he created a video update of his own when he and two other people took a 170-mile trip from Paris to Rouen and back in his Renault Zoe and an EP Tender trailer, of course. They made the trip with plenty of range to go, but here’s the video for much more info:

In the end, Jean-Baptiste Segard and his passengers drove 170 miles using the Renault Zoe (in “eco” mode) and 3.06 gallons (11.6 liters) of gasoline in the EP Tender trailer. The Zoe was not recharged once. Overall, EP Tender ran for about 1¾ hours, and the battery was turned off at 5% state of charge. If you don’t recall, it’s not expected that people would buy the EP Tender trailers, but that they would rent them the few times a year when they need to take a long-distance trip.

For more about the company and its product (which should be coming to market soon), check out: Most Exciting Technology/Company At EVS27 — EP Tender.

Also, Segard sent along an updated video showing how well the EP Tender trailer performs when backing up, parking, doing a slalom, and even doing a slalom backwards! It also shows that it easily takes just 38 seconds to hook up the trailer. Worth a watch if these were concerns that came to your mind, or just for pure fun:

Good stuff. I’m still very exited about this company’s product.
