Venturi has brought an updated version of  its America EV to Paris this year for the annual Mondial de l’Automobile. Upgrades to the dune buggy like car include doors and a new 53 kWh battery pack that extends its range to 155 miles.

Venturi Automobiles is a French car company based in Monaco that specializes in electric cars. In partnership with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, it has entered a team in the Formula E series for electric race cars and together with the Center For Automotive Research at Ohio State University, it has built a record-setting electric land speed racer.

The Venturi America EV has the same power train featured in Venturi’s Fetish, a 2 seat limited production sports car. The motor in that car is rated at 300 hp with 380 Nm of torque, pushing the car to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. It can be recharged to 80% capacity in 3 hours via an external charger or 8 hours using the built in charging system.

The America EV is an exciting package that offers stunning performance and much better than normal range. Expect to hear more about it in the coming year, but don’t expect to buy it anytime soon.

Check out our new 93-page EV report, based on over 2,000 surveys collected from EV drivers in 49 of 50 US states, 26 European countries, and 9 Canadian provinces.
