Cleantech Global Showcase Coming Up (Discount Code)

The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) will be hosting its second annual cleantech Global Showcase (GloSho’14) on October 6-7, 2014 at the historic Los Angeles Theatre Center in Downtown LA. Last year’s inaugural event attracted over 400 participants from more than 20 countries. GloSho’14 will once again convene an international group of entrepreneurs, investors, technologists, and policymakers.  See the full program here.

The goal of GloSho’14 is to bring the various facets of the global cleantech ecosystem together to facilitate investment, trade, and the growth of the cleantech industry generally.

To this end, GloSho’14 will offer multiple programs to help early-stage companies prepare for raising capital. Investment Bootcamp is a two-hour intensive taught by industry insiders including investors, investment bankers, and entrepreneurs who have raised hundreds of millions of dollars. The Investor Reverse Showcase turns the tables on the entrepreneur/ investor dynamic by having investment firms give 10-minute pitches (followed by Q&A) outlining what their firm is looking for in terms of sector, stage, bite size, and vetting. The Funding Platform Panel will provide entrepreneurs with insight on the cutting edge trends in various funding platforms to bring cleantech companies from concept to commercialization.

Speakers such as EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, Former Governor of Michigan and Director of the American Jobs Project at UC Berkeley Jennifer Granholm, Chair of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Richard Kauffman, and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will address how policy impacts cleantech market growth and development.

Over 30 early stage cleantech startups will be showcasing their innovative technologies during the Global Company Showcase, and LACI’s international partners from countries such as China, Mexico, Germany, and Italy will present on the cleantech landscape in their respective countries.

In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
