Wind Energy Economic Benefits Highlighted In AWEA Infographic
A new infographic from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) highlights US wind energy economic benefits ahead of Congress’ return.
Highlighted on its Into The Wind blog, the graph shows how important wind power is in terms of the economy and energy independence.
This summer, AWEA has hammered home the point that wind energy will play a key role in meeting proposed EPA rules on carbon emissions to combat climate change. Of course, it is preparing for yet another battle to extend the Production Tax Credit ahead of US mid-terms this November. The tax credit has been key in moving wind energy policy forward despite almost constant uncertainty. Great uncertainty hampered US wind installations in 2013, with only 1.08 GW installed.
Considering that wind energy draws around $25 billion of private investment yearly, creates jobs, and provides a solid clean energy source in places that are vulnerable to drought, including Texas and California, Congress should consider expanding the Production Tax Credit before the year ends.
