News from San Juan, Puerto Rico, is that the first delivery of the all-electric Nissan LEAF (two of them, actually) makes history with their arrival on the island. The appreciative new owner is a family-owned business devoted to renewable energy projects. It follows naturally that this family begins the path into Puerto Rico for electric cars.
Purchasing a Nissan LEAF is now possible across this island paradise. It has caused much enthusiasm at dealerships, such as the Adriel Auto in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.
Satisfied with the purchase of the two all-electric Nissan LEAFs, new owner Windmar Renewable Energy’s Victor Gonzalez talks to NissanNews.com about the purchase: “We were very anxious for the arrival of the LEAF. Nissan decided to bring them here and we were delighted to make the purchase. The vehicle has given us excellent results.”
“For Puerto Rico, the LEAF is ideal because of the distances we drive on a daily basis. Everyone’s reaction has been incredible. Everyone is very impressed with the car. Since it is 100 percent electric, everyone is very impressed with the vehicle’s performance. It is the perfect vehicle for the island of Puerto Rico,” said González.
Indeed, what else is needed on an island like Puerto Rico.
“Solar energy – and electric vehicles using such power or other renewable energy – make a lot of sense. In an island such as this one, you don’t go too fast or too far. So when we couple the LEAF with our solar panels, like the ones we have in our homes and businesses, the cost of energy needed for the LEAF is greatly reduced,” said González.
Practice your Spanish and enjoy the tropical vision of Nissan LEAF in Puerto Rico further:
With a global network of more than 130,000 Nissan LEAFs on the road, the island of Puerto Rico joins 35 other countries.
In other recent news was the first customer in Mexico City of a Nissan LEAF. This will make beautiful, but smog-ridden Mexico City smile and make for many grateful citizens of Mexico City if the Nissan LEAF trend continues. The city needs to cut pollution a great deal. Imagine the health benefits!
Nissan LEAF fits well in the exotic background of Puerto Rico and everywhere else. It reminds me of a trip a Nissan LEAF traveled up to the top of the volcano in Haleakalā National Park in Hawaii and back down.

In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
