Renault and LG Chem recently signed a memorandum of understanding that will see the two develop long-range EV battery technology.

While information is sparse, the deal is no doubt intended — at least partially — to help Renault overcome the relatively limited ranges that its EVs currently possess (typically under 100 miles). One of the knocks on Renault’s affordable EVs have been the ranges — so it is very possible that increased ranges could mean notably increased sales for the French company, something that would be nice for the company considering that it recently had to delay the launch of its Twingo EV due to lower demand than was expected.

In related news, the Renault Zoe recently (finally) hit the Norwegian market. Given the great possibilities for EV sales inherent in the Norwegian market, the launch has been a long time coming.

It’ll be interesting to see how sales of the Zoe stack up against those of more established players in that market, like Nissan and Tesla.
