solar vs EVs awarenessIn case you’re not familiar with it, #SolarChat is a pretty huge Twitter event. #SolarChat events regularly rank at the top of National Twitter Trends the day that they take place. The last #SolarChat, which was about American corporate solar champions and the business case for solar, even trended higher than the Pope. The organizers/hosts of these #SolarChats come up with several questions for panelists and participants before the event, focused around a particular solar topic each time. They also round up the panelists. During the one-hour event, one of the co-hosts rolls out each question and then lets everyone respond to it, and then to each other. It’s a very informative huddling of minds that brings in some of the top cleantech thinkers, movers, & shakers.

I’ve been a panelist on one of the #SolarChat events, and I have participated in a couple others. In the upcoming #SolarChat on January 29, I’m actually a co-host, along with the original organizers and regular co-hosts, Raina Russo of SolarChat and Glenna Wiseman of Identity 3. Together, we’ve pulled in the following panelists:

–> Mike Tinskey (tweeting from @Ford) — Ford’s Global Director of Vehicle Electrification and Vehicle Infrastructure. (Interestingly, Ford serendipitously unveiled its Ford C-Max Solar Energi concept car just before this event.)

–> Ryan Harty (tweeting from @Honda) — Manager of Environmental Business Development at American Honda Motor Company (heads up Honda’s solar power programs).

–> Paul Scott (tweeting from @pluginamerica) — Founding member of Plug In America, former President of the Electric Vehicle Association of Southern California, Nissan LEAF salesman for Nissan of Downtown Los Angeles, former solar PV salesman.

–> Michael Graham Richard (tweeting from @TreeHugger) — Editor at TreeHugger, a leading green news site.

Oh yeah, the focus of this #SolarChat is: “Solar & EVs: Intersection, Reality, Challenges & Promise.” You can register for it (free) at that link.

The idea for this #SolarChat came out of the previous one, which happened to be sponsored by GM and veered into the EV realm for a few minutes. We’ll surely be discussing CleanTechnica‘s recent findings from our reader poll about solar+EV owners, as well as other polls and studies. And there will be plenty of opinion-flinging (in a good way) and testimonials. I’m particularly interested in hearing more about Ford, Honda, and Nissan’s solar efforts from some of their solar+EV leaders.

So… get your tweeting fingers ready and register for this #SolarChat, which takes place on January 29 from 2:00pm–3:00pm ET.
