Elon Musk On Tesla’s Role In History, SolarCity, And Our Cleantech Future (VIDEO)Elon Musk has been named to TIME’s Top 100 most influential people list. He’s one of the most successful and iconic entrepreneurs of our day. And he’s one of the biggest leaders of the electric vehicle revolution. So, he was a very logical person for the UK to bring on as an advisor to help implement the government’s plug-in vehicle push. UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg recently announced Elon’s new role in that capacity.

Where Elon will find the time for this new responsibility, I don’t know, but I’m sure he will be helpful, and I’m sure a strong EV effort by the UK government will help Tesla Motors.

Here’s a bit more about the UK’s EV push, from Autoblog Green:

Clegg says he’s hoping the UK will emerge as a “global leader in the production and adoption” of plug-in vehicles. The UK plans to invest about $640 million between 2010 and 2015 building out publicly accessible charging stations and researching plug-in technological advancements.

As I recently wrote, the Tesla Model S price in the UK is £54,900 ($88,000), about $20,000 more than in the US thanks to shipping costs, duties, and taxes.

Other recent Tesla news includes the possibility of Tesla rolling out an electric truck within 5 years, the possibility of Tesla building (with partner) a battery gigafactory in the US, and some Tesla Model S crashes that are really much ado about nothing.
