NextEra Has A 1100-Megawatt Solar PV Portfolio In North America!
NextEra Energy Resources, a leading renewable energy company in North America, has revealed that its solar PV portfolio in North America totals about 1100 megawatts (or 1.1 gigawatts). 800 megawatts of that is still in the pipeline, with 300 megawatts planned for completion by the end of 2013. The remaining 500 megawatts are planned for completion by the end of 2016.
The largest project NextEra Energy Resources owns is the 250-megawatt Silver State PV power plant in Nevada that it bought from First Solar earlier this year.
Clearly, NextEra Energy is a company to keep an eye on. I’m sure we’ll have more big news about the company in the coming years. And, aside from solar PV, NextEra is also involved in wind energy, nuclear energy, solar thermal energy, and fossil fuels. Hopefully it makes a rapid and strong shift away from the dirtier sources and towards renewable energy resources! I mean, look how pretty solar power is:
