At GE’s recent Mind + Machines 2013 conference*, I had the wonderful opportunity to interview GE’s Andy Holt, the general manager of Renewable Energy Services at GE Energy. The friendly giant (he was very tall, but thankfully also very friendly and funny) answered several technical questions I pitched his way, as well as throwing in some interesting commentary I didn’t even think to fish for.

Over the coming days, I’ll share several videos from our chats on Chicago’s impressive Navy Pier, with this first one being about GE’s Brilliant wind turbines. The summary, as you can see in the title, is that these wind turbines are able to communicate with each other as well as wind turbine technicians regarding a number of important performance and maintenance factors. This helps the machines and people running them to maximize uptime, performance, CO2 and other pollution cuts, and revenues/profits for wind farm owners, wind farm operators, and GE.

Check out the video and please share it with friends!
