If you’re one of the few lucky ones that own a pair of Google Glasses and just so happen to be a proud owner of a Tesla Model S, then you may want to give the Glass Tesla app a try. Designed by Sahas Katta, a young aspiring computer whiz, Glass Tesla lets you have some extra control over your Tesla functions… using a pair of glasses of course.

If you’re not familiar with Google Glass, it is a “wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) that is being developed by Google in the Project Glass research and development project, with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format, that can interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands.”

Model S owners will be able to remotely control the car’s climate, lock and unlock the doors, start and stop electric charging, open the Tesla’s sunroof, locate and track the vehicle’s location, bring up real-time mileage information, and even honk the horn using the Glass Tesla app. Impressive!

The app seems pretty cool overall and shows the potential of integrating Google Glass into future vehicle technology. So far, Tesla hasn’t given an official endorsement of the app, maybe due to the possibility of it being another distraction for drivers… or maybe Tesla just hasn’t got around to it yet. Either way, I’m sure Google is happy with the exposure that Glass Tesla is giving their Google Glass product… and vice versa.

The only problem at the moment with the app is that it is limited to an extremely small group of techies who actually have a pair of the glasses and own or lease a Tesla. If nothing else, those of us that are not that fortunate can at least look into the future of electric cars and OHMD technology with the video below.

And don’t forget that there’s also a normal smartphone Tesla app (which all of a sudden seems so old school).
