China Wind Power To Add 700 MW Of Solar and Wind By 2015

In a strategic agreement announced Monday between China Wind Power and CNNC Rich Energy, the two plan to bring another 700 megawatts (MW) of renewable capacity to China by 2015.

The Strategic Cooperation Agreement was signed on the 10th of April between the two companies, which lays out plans to co-invest in and construct solar as well as wind projects in China over the next two and a half years.

The companies have targeted more than 100 MW of new energy projects in 2013, and an overall goal of 500 MW of wind power projects and 200 MW of solar projects by 2015.

According to China Wind Power’s website, by the end of 2012 they had already secured more than 28 GW of wind resources and 5 GW of solar. A map of their current power plant investments is shown below.

The map represents a total of 26 operational wind farms and 7 solar farms.
