17 ARPA-E Projects Have Pulled In $450 Million In Private Funding
The U.S. Energy Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) this week announced that 17 projects it has helped jump-start have “demonstrated major technical successes and shown significant market engagement” in the past 4 years.
Putting a dollar figure on that, the 17 projects “have attracted over $450 million in private sector follow-on funding” (after their initial $70 million or so from ARPA-E). In addition, 12 ARPA-E projects have gone on to become companies, and over 10 have received funding from other government agencies for later stages of their development.
From clean transport to wind power to grid storage, the ARPA-E winners are looking to advance key technologies of various cleantech sectors. Here are a few lists of the projects, recently put together by the DOE:
