Chinese solar energy company Yingli Green Energy, which sponsors FC Bayern Munich during the regular Bundesliga season, is sponsoring the Yingli Cup this week. The exhibition game will take place July 24 between FC Bayern Munich of Germany and Beijing Guoan. It will take place at the Workers Stadium in Beijing.

The recent announcement was part of a string of announcements by the renewable energy company, which also included partnering with the US Soccer Federation and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Clearly, the solar company is using the world’s most popular game to attract people to a relatively new globalized industry. Representatives from all sides are giving it the thumbs up!

“As the only Chinese and the only renewable energy sponsor of FC Bayern Munchen, Yingli is proud to host our friends in China, home of Yingli Solar,” said Liangsheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy in a statement.

“Together with FC Bayern Munchen’s knowledge in football and Yingli Solar’s expertise in renewable energy, we are not only looking forward to enhancing the development of football in China. We also look forward to combining our love for football and for the environment in improving society and protecting the planet we inhabit,” said Mr. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of the Executive Board of FC Bayern Munich.

“We are pleased to play against FC Bayern Munchen, which is one of the most popular football clubs in the world,” said Lu Zhang, Vice Chairman of Beijing Guoan Football Club in the statement.
