Spaniards Give Up Cars for Lifetime Transit Passes

I gave up my car about 7 years ago and have never looked back. I love living without a car. But for those who need a little more incentive, the city of Murcia, Spain offered lifetime transit passes in June to residents who gave up their cars. Sounds like a great plan! Beyond the environmental, health, and economic benefits of such a policy, I imagine it would help to keep people in the city (a lifetime transit pass is a pretty nice perk).
