Recently, we covered the DIY home efficiency program Kauai is using as an economic recovery and resilience tool. The idea behind the project was to provide immediate and ongoing economic relief to residents who were negatively affected by the economic fallout of COVID-19.
A DIY home efficiency program, where residents can use a guided home efficiency self-audit tool, and receive a box in the mail full of efficiency products specifically tailored for their home, is being piloted in Kauai.
A cooperative utility in Hawaii has reduced its electricity prices, multiplied its renewable energy capacity, and increased its grid resiliency — all without relying on neighboring utilities, because there are none.
Hawaii again made big news for its commitment to renewables. Four Hawaii counties this week made a commitment to eliminate fossil fuel based transportation by 2045.
Tesla will supply 200 Powerpack grid scale storage batteries to Nantucket to serve as backup power for the island.
Tesla is now supplying electricity to the island of Kauai under an agreement with the local utility company. That means Tesla is now a power provider, a role it sees itself adopting more often in the future.
