$Active natural gas drilling in the Uinta Basin in northeast Utah, east of the town of Ouray. Drilling locations appear as bright spots, each typically 1-1/2 to 3 acres in size, connected by a network of gravel roads and pipeline corridors. Two large water treatment facilities - sets of rectangular ponds in various striking colors - handle the wastewater produced during drilling and hydrofracturing ("fracking") operations.
