For Fuel Cell Trucks, Nikola Cooks Up Hydrogen Fueling Station On-The-Go
If all goes according to plan, mobile hydrogen fueling stations will solve the chicken-and-egg conundrum for fuel cell trucks in USA.

Filling up a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is one of those unknowns that many buyers might not consider until it’s time to actually head to a station and fill up for the first time. We are in the unique position to try out many of the latest and greatest vehicles, including a handful of FCEVs.
Reposted from EV Obsession: We all have our own favorites when it comes to clean cars of the future. Since I am writing on this site, I think you can tell what mine is. However, there are of course others who think that hydrogen-powered cars own the future. I remember … [continued]
The past year has been a year of creative destruction in hydrogen for energy efforts. That is to say, destruction of creative accounting and projections in business cases. Green hydrogen supply proposals failed miserably to ignite financial interest as they couldn’t find offtakers for realistically costed hydrogen, with only 0.2% … [continued]
Expect a lot more announcements about shutting down hydrogen for energy projects like the recent one from Equinor, Aire Liquide, and Eviny.
Earlier this month, I shared the story of Irish EVs and how they pretty much busted local PR agencies for greenwashing the climate crisis through disinformation campaigns. A couple of days after that article was published, there was a discussion on Twitter — I was tagged, and Peter Miller shared screenshots of what he gets bombarded with every day
California’s 33rd hydrogen fuel cell vehicle refueling station was recently opened — at an existing gas/petrol refueling station in the city of Thousand Oaks, just northwest of Los Angeles.
The somewhat controversial firm Nikola Motor Company — controversial because of the apparent flipflop from planning to offer an all-electric truck to offering a hydrogen fuel cell one, after numerous deposits were taken, amongst other reasons — has selected Nel ASA as the builder of its planned 16-station hydrogen refueling network.
While I remain extremely skeptical of the idea of personal hydrogen fuel cell cars, it seems that authorities and companies in Japan are not. A large cross-section of the biggest companies in Japan, including several major auto manufacturers, is apparently now working to do a large-scale buildout of hydrogen fuel cell refueling stations, according to recent reports.
Originally published on EV Obsession. With the rollout of hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles and refueling stations in California kicking off, it’s perhaps a bit unsurprising that new issues have continued to arise. Perhaps most notably, many refueling stations have apparently been regularly inoperable for long periods of time, for weeks or … [continued]
