groSolar to Acquire Borrego Solar’s Residential Division
Posted in:
In a move to expand its national reach, GroSolar announced plans Thursday to acquire Borrego Solar Systems’ residential solar installation business. With the acquisition, groSolar will emerge as the fourth-largest residential solar power installer in the United States. The company’s acquisition comes at a time when the industry is poised to reap the benefits of the economic stimulus’ eight-year extension of the solar tax credits.
“This is a great day for solar,” said Jeff Wolfe, CEO of groSolar in a statement. “Coupled with the new benefits in the Federal stimulus bill, groSolar is now poised to help with America’s energy independence and economic recovery, while making it simple, fast and affordable for customers to ‘go solar’.”
Wolfe said that the acquisition would expand the largest distribution warehouse network in the industry and in California.
GroSolar has operations in 12 states as well as Canada – Vermont, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Oregon, Montana and California.
Borrego Solar Systems will now tighten its focus on the company’s commercial and government divisions, to include affordable housing solar installs.
