Frog Design’s high-powered LED uses less power than a CFL and has a pleasant light output. Since the bulb is shaped traditionally, it can fit into any light socket. The heat generated by the LED is absorbed by its  aluminum base— thus eliminating the issue of excess heat shortening the its life.

Will Frog Design’s LED live up to the hype? I suppose we’ll have to wait for the bulb’s release to find out.
