Nissan LEAF Acenta Named “Best Used Green Car” In 2017 Auto Express Used Car Awards
Nissan finds recognition once again in the UK. It has been acknowledged for the amazing zero emissions EV the LEAF is. The Nissan LEAF has won the “Best Used Green Car” award in 2016 for the second year in a row.
It is no secret that the Nissan LEAF has been the most successful initial mainstream EV (globally). As a two-year Nissan LEAF driver (with no home charging and through a hurricane), I can say the agile and comfortable car deserves the recognition it gets. In the latest instance, “the current generation Nissan LEAF Acenta has been named ‘Best EV’ in the 2017 Auto Express Used Car Awards.”
The Nissan LEAF offers a natural, easy commute even with the 24 kWh battery, but a more substantial 30 kWh battery LEAF can take you even further between charges and can use fairly widespread CHAdeMO fast chargers. Been thinking about getting a Nissan LEAF? Spread your LEAF wings and go for it.
The cost of charging is much less than gas — and in some places you can pay nothing. All that finesse and advanced technology can actually save you money. Of course, a used model offers the same ambiance and quality technology as a new one but at a more affordable price.
When you think of EV leadership and Norway’s EV leadership, you probably think of Tesla and its Model S, but I recall an earlier CleanTechnica article highlighting that Norway’s electric car lovers favor Nissan LEAFs.
“Norway is like a lab experiment for electric transport. Crushing the electric car market share of any other country, Norway’s 30% or so EV share has been reached after more or less following the exponential growth trend that you see in theoretical charts like this one.”
“Of course, the electric car options will change dramatically by the time any other country reaches 30% market share, but it’s still interesting to have a look at which electric models have seen the most love in Norway’s rather mature market,” Zach Shahan says.
Back to the current offerings in the UK, where the award was granted, Nissan adds, “Thanks to Nissan’s current Switch Scheme, Nissan LEAF ownership has never been more accessible. Payments for a used LEAF 24kWh on a three-year 3.9% APR PCP can be lower than £100 a month with trade-in value and Nissan Switch Scheme contribution.”

Nissan continues: “The Nissan LEAF was also one of the best-performing models in the 2017 Driver Power survey earlier this year. The LEAF was awarded Best Green Car overall and also came top in the Best Engine and Gearbox and Best MPG and Running Costs awards categories. Overall the car was ranked the 33rd best car to live with.
“Driver Power is the UK’s biggest and most in-depth car satisfaction survey, with seven surveys covering the different phases of vehicle ownership. There are also nine Judging Category awards split into satisfaction categories.”
And then there’s the new Nissan LEAF:
“On October 2nd, Nissan unveiled the all-new Nissan LEAF in Europe, the next generation of the best-selling zero-emissions electric vehicle. Embodying Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility vision, the new model has been reinvented to offer a greater range (up to 235miles (NEDC) on a single charge), dynamic design, advanced driver assistance technologies and enhanced connectivity.
“A unique version is on sale now in the UK – the new Nissan LEAF 2.ZERO limited edition. This version is the first model in Europe to be fully equipped with Nissan’s ProPILOT technology. Priced at £26,490 including Government Grant, cars will be delivered from the beginning of 2018.”
