Details On Tesla’s New Referral Program
Building on its earlier referral programs, Tesla’s new referral program running from January 16th through March 15th offers Model S and Model X owners who refer new buyers to the company a number of different prizes and awards.
For those unfamiliar with the program, here’s a basic overview: Tesla owners provides interested Tesla buyers with an individual referral code that provides the buyer with a $1,000 discount. In return, these referrers are then made eligible for various awards and prizes via the current Referral Program.
So, what’s on offer for referrers this time around? An invitation (+1) to the Model 3 delivery event for those who make 7 qualifying referrals; an exclusive red (colored) Founders Series Powerwall 2 for those who make 5; a Founders Series Tesla Model S for Kids for those who make 3; and a Tesla-branded rolling carry-on for those who make 2 or more.
In addition, referrers will be entered into a drawing to win either a Ludicrous P100D Model S or Model X — with referrals for Ludicrous P100D Model S or Model X vehicles apparently counting as 2 entries, rather than just 1 as with other referred sales. This random drawing will occur on or around March 31, 2017.
Also very notable is that Tesla is now introducing “Annual Awards” for referrers as well. Here’s an overview from the company:
Owners will now also receive exclusive benefits and awards throughout the year, based on their total number of referrals from January 16, 2017.
First to 20 Per Region – Ludicrous P100D Model S or Model X
The first person to refer 20 friends starting from January 16 in each sales region— North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific — will receive a P100D Model S or Model X. They will be invited to configure their award once all 20 friends have taken delivery of their new Tesla vehicles.
20+ Qualifying Referrals
Those who make 20 qualifying referrals will receive a weekend getaway at a destination charging resort as well as the ability to swap their car with the latest Tesla of their choice for a week.
15+ Qualifying Referrals
Those who make 15 qualifying referrals will receive exclusive priority access and benefits lasting until December 31, 2018, including:
- VIP Concierge – 24/7 access via phone for assistance with all ownership matters
- VIP access to Tesla events
- 10 overnight test drive passes for friends and family
- 10 passes for 4 to tour Tesla’s Fremont Factory
A couple of points to make: all awards are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash; winners are responsible for applicable taxes and fees; and Virginia and Ohio residents are not eligible.
As a reminder, commercializing (selling) one’s referral codes will disqualify them from consideration and such codes are apparently not honored by Tesla.
Also worth noting is that the referral program isn’t related to the sale of certified pre-owned vehicles, only new ones.
