Roof-top solution provider and EPC Company CleanMax Solar is planning to increase its roof-top solar power capacity to 400 MW over the next two years.

According to Managing Director, Kuldeep Singh, the company intends to enhance their solar capacity by nearly eight times from the current installed capacity of 55 MW. The Indian Government’s ambitious vision of 40 GW installed roof-top capacity by 2022 provided impetus for the company to grow and expand.

CleanMax is one the largest players in the roof-top segment in India, accounting for 28% of the market share. It offers end-to-end solutions from installation to maintenance in cost-effective and streamlined commissioning process. The company has its major presence across six metros including Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Jaipur, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

The company has recently been honoured twice by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for excellence in the roof-top solar sector.

The roof-top solar sector in India till now has been progressing at a snail’s pace due to poor implementation of net metering policy across various states, restriction on capacity for net metering, stringent technical requirements, and a lack of private sector lending.

Such investment plans by private companies would be heartening to the Indian Government which is looking to promote the rooftop solar market through incentives and subsidies. Last year, the Government approved a plan to increase subsidies for rooftop solar power projects from current Rs 600 crore (US$92 million) to Rs 5,000 crore (US$770 million). The subsidy will be available to households, government institutions, hospitals, and educational institutions, among others.
