Gamesa Receives 298 MW Wind Turbine Order From Avangrid Renewables

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has been awarded one of its largest wind turbine supply contracts to supply 298 MW to the El Cabo wind farm in New Mexico.

Gamesa announced the new contract on Friday, calling it one of the largest orders the company has ever been awarded. Gamesa will provide 142 of its G114-2.1 MW wind turbines to Avangrid Renewables, a part of the Iberdrola Group, which is developing the 298 MW El Cabo wind farm in the US state of New Mexico.

Gamesa is set to deliver the turbines beginning in March of 2017, and expects to commission them in June 2017.

The El Cabo wind farm is expected to be able to provide enough electricity to meet the needs of over 200,000 households, and prevent emissions worth around 447,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent.
