As part of the slow ramp up of the Tesla Model X launch, Tesla has been hosting “Meet Model X” events for reservation holders. At first, it looked like it was a one-time shot at the Fremont factory from January 30–31, then the events started appearing for more and more people on the Model X reservation list.

Tesla Sunnyvale hosted from February 1–3 and the interwebs were soon graced with photos from the event, including lines of Model Xs parked, interiors, and a wide variety of color combinations and option packages.

On Saturday, while stopping for a Supercharge session on the way home from a few days in Los Angeles, I discovered that Tesla Burbank has been selected to host the lucrative event from February 6–11 — quite a few more days than the other events, which may indicate that quite a few more buyers are down in Southern California than up north near the factory.

As I’m not in line for a Model X, I was not on the list. However, that did not prevent me from snagging some spy shots of the area after the first day of events. It was set up much like the other events, with a white Tesla Model X and a blue Model X inside with test drives taking place outside the facility.

Tesla started this type of event with Model S and still regularly hosts “Meet Model S” events at various Tesla centers around the world, which can be found on the Tesla Motors website. These Model X events are set up less to give new-to-Tesla people a taste of the cars, but rather to let some of the 30,000+ Model X reservation holders get a bit of an early taste of the car as production ramps up, and to help them configure their vehicles.

The real test for Model X is going to be on Wednesday when Tesla hosts the quarterly earnings call, with Model X deliveries to date and progress on Model 3 expected to be front and center for the discussion. Until then, grab a coffee, take a look at some of the great pics from the events, or the video walkthrough, and enjoy the show. 🙂
