Fortune 100 technology company Honeywell has launched a climate ticker which tracks the cumulative impact adoption of their products has had on emissions.

As a minor addendum to an announcement made earlier this month, Honeywell revealed the Honeywell Climate Ticker, which tracks how many millions tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions are saved through the adoption of Honeywell’s low-global-warming-potential (low-GWP) Solstice products.

Honeywell-1To date, 17,189,375 metric tonnes of CO2e have been removed from the atmosphere, which represents the equivalent of carbon sequestered by 6,340,343,400 trees, or 16.2 million acres of trees — an area slightly larger than the state of West Virginia.

“Recent and proposed regulation from the EPA are positive steps that will help reduce the use of HFCs and drive the development and adoption of innovative new technologies such as Solstice,” said Ken Gayer, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Fluorine Products, as part of an announcement showcasing Honeywell’s predictions for its reduction of global greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate Ticker is separated into five screens, depicting in different measurements the impact use of Honeywell Solstice materials has had on greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to the amount of CO2e removed from the atmosphere and the amount of carbon sequestered in non-existent trees, the Ticker also depicts the amount of CO2 e removed as being the same as eliminating emissions from 3,618,815 cars, the energy used by 1,568,373 homes, or the equivalent of emissions from 39,975,292 barrels of oil.

Secured down the bottom of the page is a way to determine what switching from HFCs or HCFCs to Honeywell Solstice products can mean for you or your business.
