The noted residential solar energy company Sunrun and the global digital marketing agency iCrossing are partnering to raise public awareness of the benefits of going solar, and the options available, according to recent reports.

iCrossing will, reportedly, be handling all of Sunrun’s “digital display media, search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing and conduct user experience research.”

Sunrun

Given that Sunrun’s customers can typically expect to see their electric bill cut pretty notably when they utilize the company’s services, it can’t be that hard to attract new customers — but, still, with the way things are set up nowadays, such partnerships can go a long ways. And despite Sunrun’s pioneering leadership in the home solar market, it is a very competitive market these days and the clear leader in terms of market share is now SolarCity, followed by Vivint Solar. Furthermore, the potential for home solar power in the US has hardly been tapped, and the #1 barrier to growth these days may simply be poor consumer awareness of solar power’s benefits… particularly to homeowners’ own bank accounts.

“iCrossing impressed us with their cross-channel knowledge and innovative approach to elevating some of the world’s largest brands across all forms of digital media,” stated Michael Grasso, chief marketing officer at Sunrun. “Our companies share a long history of innovation, so they were the clear choice to lead our digital marketing efforts as we continue to increase consumer adoption of solar energy nationwide.”

“Innovation is part of Sunrun’s DNA,” stated Dave Johnson, chief client officer at iCrossing. “We’re thrilled to partner with such a forward-thinking company, and look forward to leveraging our digital media and content skills to introduce their vision for solar energy to more consumers.”

iCrossing’s San Francisco office will reportedly be the one working on the Sunrun account.

In related news, Sunrun and Investec recently closed deals representing $195 million in new financing — to be used supporting Sunrun’s continued growth throughout the country’s residential sold energy market.

Taken together, it seems pretty clear that Sunrun is expecting to see good growth over the next few years. With the residential sector looking very likely to continue growing at a fast rate, that’s not likely to be an inaccurate expectation.
