As noted in an article yesterday, I’ve been very busy in the past month (well, months…) moving into a new home and following the birth of a sweet little cleantech lover. Inevitably, “roundup articles” of important or interesting cleantech news we didn’t cover dropped off as a result. With a big backlog of stories I wanted to share, I’m breaking them up into even more articles than normal. Here’s one on renewable energy news other than solar-specific news.

The EU Commission has ruled that member countries must move from FITs to bidding processes that are better. However, Craig Morris and Karl-Friedrich Lenz note that there aren’t any bidding processes that are better, so I guess we’ll just stick with FiTs. (Lenz Blog)

German electricity prices have not been rising as more and more renewable energy penetrates the grid. Actually, they’ve been getting more and more competitive. But the big thing in Germany is the maze of exemptions industry can qualify for. (Energy Transition)

Non-hydro renewables were collectively larger than lignite in Germany for the first time in the first half of this year. They are up to 27%, from 23% just last year. (Renewables International)

EU Courts have ruled that member states do not have to open up their renewable energy schemes to producers in other countries. The decision actually went against the opinion of its Advocate-General. (EnergyPost)

Nigel Morris has written a letter to Tony Abbott requesting that he stop lying about Australia’s Renewable Energy Target. (RenewEconomy)

Disruptive technologies are… disruptive. (RenewEconomy)

In the war over renewable energy, fossil fuel interests are losing. (Washington Post)
